Ordered the beef salad for takeout, medium spicyness. Wow delicious! A healthy serving of beef, sweet, tangy and spicy goodness. Did not disappoint. Beef was really good, only wish is I can choose how my steak is done. But maybe they do, I didn't ask, neither did they.
Best thai food I have ever eaten !
There was a Thai restaurant in Rolla, MO, called sawadee Thai that served THE BEST spicy basil fried rice. It closed a few months ago. I searched for ages for a replacement, but could not find one, UNTIL TODAY. Original Thai cuisine LLC has filled the spicy basil Thai fried rice hole in my heart. Unfortunate that I will have to travel to Hawaii every time I want it, but the hardest of choices require the strongest of wills. Try it, you'll love it.
The food was very good. Kind of loud. All the tables are just kind of in one big bunch. Could have been cleaner.
My favorite Thai restaurant on the Big Island. Everything has always been delicious and consistently well prepared.Thai food is probably the best represented ethnic food here in Kona and Original Thai has been perfecting their craft for at least 10 years now.
Great place, food is awesome and it's BYOB
Food is always delicious, and servers are really friendly! I would definitely recommend. all time favorite for Kona.
Fast professional service with very tasty dishes!
Food here is amazing. We have never had a bad experience. My favorite is the stir fry with chicken, medium heat! Just perfect. Highly recommend you visit when you are in town!
This place! That's all. Just don't go there when the tables are full and expect a meal on your table within 20 minutes. They're busy and the kitchen is rocking!
Nice little spot in Kona town. Great menu atmosphere and legit Thai food. Mahalo
Went there for lunch. Excellent hospitality, good ambience and delicious food. We were looking for vegetarian options, and the host/owner was very aware of our dietary restriction and suggested/ customized the dishes on the menu. Beware they use real spices here, so a hot rating of 10 is going to be really really hot !!
We were bored of Indian food, thought of trying something different and this place had many vegetarian options. The ambience is great and staff is very welcoming. We ordered Vegetarian Chowmein and Lemon grass soup, both were too good. The soup had a perfect balance of flavours and hotness.Chowmein also had very rich flavours and a lot different vegetables, the only drawback of this to me was there were lot of vegetables and less noodles. The quantity of the serve is also good and their rates are also not expensive.
We ordered a red curry duck (Kaeng Phed Duck) and a yellow curry chick. The chicken was not fresh and not even real chicken (something like what you see in a low-end American style Chinese restaurant). It seems that the duck was pre-cooked and then re-heated. It tasted very dry. No curry flavor in the duck itself. I think they cook the duck and the curry soup separately. The sticky rice was also pre-cooked and re-heated. It had lost water and was dry and hard. They put the rice in a plastic wrap to try to keep it moist. Apparently they failed. 2 star for their yellow and red curry. Remember that even the mild red curry is still very spicy.
Amazing Thai food. Don't let the location full you this is some of the best Thai food I've had in a long long time. The mango sticky rice when in season is worth the trip alone. And by the trip I mean flying from the mainland over here. It was my sister's first experience with mango sticky rice and I had to let her know that it would be all downhill from here . Very friendly service too!
Best Thai food I have ever had, and the staff and service was incredible
Food was horrible way overpriced and we waited over an hour
Great tasting thai food!
One of our favorite local restaurant. The food is amazing the staff is lovely and so helpful. Do not miss the mango sticky rice when it is available (i.e in season), may I should not say this online? Now it will be harder to get but they deserve to be busy and successful, they work hard and never disappoint.
Food was great without a doubt but the service I had was terrible the server was so short with us we literally had to chase her to get help. In addition the wait was obnoxiously long and there was a couple who stopped by and looked like regulars they got their entire meal in under 30 I waited nearly an hour. The wait time and the service alone might convince me to not to go back even with good food.
Best Thai restaurant in Kona no question! It doesn't sound very Thai, but make sure to try the Thai Basil Burger and Yellow Curry French Fries, they are amazing. The curries and noodles and stir fry dishes all consistently great. If you're looking for Thai food in Kona, there's a lot of options, but this is really the best one.
Great food, no corkage fees, casual.
Food was delicious, the restaurant was crowded a good sign I think.
The food was great and the passion and guava juice was delicious. Had the peanut curry vegetables and it was on point. My wife had the crispy duck and asparagus, tasty. Place is small though.
Favorite place for Thai on the island hands down. Great service and the food comes out fast. Chow mein and fried rice are my personal favorites and always get pad thai and drunken noodles as well. Other Thai places on the island like Krua and Charley's are pretty good too, but can't beat Original Thai's quality and taste. 100% recommend!
Very overpriced for the portion size as well as quality. Shrimp were over cooked with minimal flavor of the noodles (pad Thai). Overall not authentic. I would recommend other various Thai restaurants on big island
I was so disappointed of the food. I ordered spicy fried rice and somtom. But I got Pad-Kra-Pao instead. It was no flavor except spicy at all. I’m Thai. And the website was saying original Thai taste. But this is not it.
Skip the restaurant line at the brewery and BYOB. Food is great. Mild spicy is quite spicy.
Good food for the price and portions. Would recommend to anyone.
Been here 3 times now and each time wasnt disappointed. If you put in a special request its a hit or miss that they'll get it right but usually quick to make it right. Thai tea and thai iced coffee taste great. I recommend the curry fries or the crab ragoon but not the wings or calamari. The breading on the calamari falls apart really easily. The thai gravy entree and the fried rice are amazing. Best ive ever had. Definitely one of my top places to visit
Food is real tasty.. this is the best Thai restaurant I have visited ever..
Tomka with chicken is very delicious!!
I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants in different states, as well as Hawaii and this is still one of my favorite. Good quality, pretty decent prices, and super good flavors. Try the chicken satay burger!
Learn how to use Google and update your hours!!! If you go on Vacation for the entire month of July... say that on Google. You have a way to that!! Don't let people drive to your location to find a stupid sign on your door! MAHALO!
Great food the staff was wonderful the portions are large.I would recommend stopping in its worth it.#localguide
Very good. We were recommended by locals to order mild... This has no spice. If you want a kick, do medium. Unlike many spicy food places, they do not sacrifice flavor for hot spice.
The lunch specials are great and the pumpkin curry is fabulous. Best Thai food in Kona!
As VEGANS, we are always looking for new restaurants which offer healthy, creative and flavorful plant based cuisine. This was our first time trying Original Thai...turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. No waiting for a table at "dinner hour". Waitstaff was friendly, quick, efficient and knowledgeable. Many, many Vegan options - made us very happy. Reasonably priced and good portion size. Best of all : Original Thai is BYOB !!!
Excellent curry, and thai iced tea. Was quite busy but delicious.
Great food with vegan options. Loved the spicy flavors.
The Thai food is actually quite good. Located right behind some shops, it is like a hidden gem. The group finished our meals happily.
I don't think I ever had Thai food as good as this anywhere on the mainland. Wow! Great menu, incredible flavors, reasonable prices, and wonderful service. If you are looking for great, high-quality Thai food, then I recommend these guys big time.
Excellent food and great service. And for all those folks who love spicy food this place got you covered cause when they say Thai hot it's really hot and spicy (full of flavor with a punch).
Excellent food. Very good help. Enjoyable!
Flavorful, delicious food! We always leave content! Faves include pad thai, basil burger, curry fries, both tom yum and tom Kha soups!! So good!....also love the drunken noodles, their curries, thai iced coffee, and so much more. This is THE place to go if you want good Thai food.
Don't let the location scare you away. The food here is the bomb! The spice levels are awesome across the board from Pad Thai to Basil Thai.
Great food and staff are super cool.
The food was great and the staff was very attentive and nice. Even on a busy day they are very good at bringing the food out quickly.
good food, good service, nice atmosphere
Having tried them all, this is the best Thai in town. Pineapple fried rice, basil eggplant, and the seafood salad are some of standouts. Their curries and larb can be a bit weak, but they do know the meaning of "spicy". Ask for the special spicy sauce if you dare. They get pretty busy since it's close to downtown Kailua.
